What it is
Chemical peels are short (usually 1 hour), individually crafted facial treatments used to exfoliate and even skin tone. At Radiant Skin, our chemical peels are performed in-office by licensed medical professionals to ensure that every treatment fits each client’s individual needs.
Chemical peels are used not only to exfoliate, by also to lighten areas of hyperpigmentation, cleanse pores, removed dead skin cells, promote new cell growth, treat acne and wrinkles, tighten skin, and even skin tone and texture.
Searching for a chemical peel for acne? Our medical professionals can help you choose a peel that addresses your specific skin needs, and recommend additional products and treatments to maximize and maintain the acne-banishing benefits of your peel.
Our selection of chemical peels includes:
Superficial Peels: At Radiant Skin, we perform superficial chemical peels as part of our in-house facials. Each superficial peel facial takes roughly one hour and can be done every 2-4 weeks. We recommend a series of 6 treatments for best results.
Skinmedica Peels: Skinmedica chemical peels are made of a unique blend of alpha and beta-hydroxy acids, a powerful antioxidant called Resorcinol, and retioic acid. Combined, these ingredients both remove dead skin and trigger your body to repair damaged skin, resulting in a long-lasting, youthful appearance.
Skinmedica peels take roughly 15-20 minutes, and are performed once per month over the course of 3-4 peels. At Radiant Skin, we offer 2 options for Skinmedica treatments: the Rejuvenize Peel and the Vitalize Peel.
Our licensed medical professionals recommend Skinmedica Rejuvenize for clients with moderate to severe skin imperfections, fine lines and wrinkles, and uneven skin tones or textures. The Rejuvenize Peel can be performed on patients with light, medium, and dark skin tones. For patients with deeply pigmented skin, we recommend Skinmedica’s Vitalize Peel be applied first, and the Rejuvenize Peel be used only after establishing skin tolerance to the Vitalize Peel.
Perfect Peel: At Radiant Skin, Perfect Peel is the most powerful chemical peel we carry, and is safe for use on all skin types. With a proven formula of TCA, kojic acid, retinoic acid, phenol, vitamin C and glutathione (the only peel containing this powerful anti-oxidant), the Perfect Derma Peel helps with problems ranging from sun spots and melanoma to acne, wrinkles, and aging skin.
Performed over the course of 2-3 treatments, Perfect Peels take 15-20 minutes to apply and produce the most dramatic results, with the longest healing time.
What to expect
Each chemical peel differs based on how deeply the chemical penetrates the skin, and what type of chemical solution is used. While deeper chemical peels result in more dramatic and impressive effects, they also require a longer healing time.
Chemical peels offer impressive results including:
Minimized appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
Minimized acne and acne scars
Minimized appearance of sun spits and moderate-to-severe hyperpigmentation
Help with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
Help with acne rosacea and acne vulgaris
Worried about chemical peel side effects? Most individuals experience dry skin, redness and, a day or two later, light peeling as your top, dull layer of skin cells naturally flakes off, leaving fresh, healthy skin cells at the surface. For most, these chemical peel side effects effects lessen with each consecutive treatment, while complexion-enhancing results increase!

Each chemical peel differs, depending on both the chemical solution used and the depth of skin penetration. For all varieties, the basic definition of a chemical peel involves applying a formula of acids to the skin for several minutes, and then removing (peeling) that formula.
Superficial peels require no downtime, and result in no visible peeling post-facial. Since skin will be more sensitive following a superficial peel, exposure to sun, exfoliators, and activities that cause sweating should be avoided for one week.
For Skimedica peels, peeling of the top layer of skin begins 2 days following your chemical peel and typically last 2-3 days. At Radiant Skin, we recommend avoiding sun, exfoliators, and any activity that causes moderate to excessive sweating while peeling lasts.
Producing the most dramatic results, Perfect Peels come with their own post-procedure kit, containing instructions that we explain in office. Two days following your Perfect Peel, you will apply specially formulated towelettes to enhance the effectiveness of your peel. Between 3-6 days following your treatement, your skin will begin to peel; all peeling should be over by day 7. As with our other chemical peels, we recommend avoiding sun, exfoliators, and any activity that causes moderate to excessive sweating during the peeling process.
